How topical probiotics work to prevent skin infections

Most products marketed to athletes and active people use the least expensive ingredients possible and take advantage of smart marketing in order to convince people they are getting the best bang for their buck.

In reality, what this means a sub par product that usually does more damage to the skin than help. Inexpensive ingredients mean that instead of conditioning the skin you dry it out and damage the skin biome.  Anyone who has ever felt a film left on their skin after a shower or needed lotion immediately after toweling off knows exactly what we are talking about. If you are an athlete, this is the exact opposite of what you want. The healthier you keep your skin the better it is at fighting off the pathogenic bacteria, fungus, yeast and viruses that cause skin issues. Combine this with how often or not often it is cleaned, your skin can become increasingly susceptible to skin issues that keep you from being able to perform at your best

The second piece of the problem is misleading marketing. They tell you that tea tree and eucalyptus oils have anti-microbial properties, which they do, and that you can benefit from their use, which you can. What they don’t tell you is that you needed a concentration of 30% or more to actually get the antimicrobial benefits of tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil in a soap and their formula(s) only include about 1.5%.

The combination of these two ingredients makes for a good business model with excellent profits, but doesn’t do a whole lot for your skin. On the other hand, topical probiotics do.

Your skin naturally has all kinds of things growing on it but it is kept in check by a delicate balance. Things that can throw this balance off are heat, humidity, sweat, close contact with other athletes, showering multiple times a day, unsanitary conditions and poor hygiene. These are just a few examples of things that can throw that balance out of whack. If you combine any of these conditions with products that are sub par, dry the skin or affect the natural health of the skin biome you are leaving yourself open to skin damage which can lead to skin infection.

Contact Sports Soap combines millions of colony forming probiotic units with high-end ingredients that soothe, hydrate and repair the skin, such as coconut oil, avocado oil, omega 3s and hickory bark extract (Just to name a few!). These probiotics are safely suspended in our soaps, lotions and sprays via a proprietary micro encapsulate technology that, when applied, attach to your skin in wet or dry environments. Once the topical probiotics in Contact Sports Soap interact with your skin they go to work instantly to reinforce the skin's natural barrier and can continue to work for up to 14 days between applications. For athletes this is critical because as we all know you can't just run to a shower the second you finish. Sometimes it can be hours before you are able to get home, especially at a meet or competition.

Combining the best products, with the latest in topical probiotic technology creates a unique and effective way to stop problems before they start, so you can train harder, longer and more often, because after all, that is what this active life is all about!
